Vidit Gujrathi stormed into the Quarterfinals of Chess World Cup 2021 after defeating Durarbayli Vasif of Azerbaijan by 1.5:0.5. With this win, Vidit also scripted history by becoming only the 2nd Indian Men’s player after Vishy Anand to achieve this feat.
With this win, Vidit has also booked his berth at the FIDE Grand Prix event. He has also attained his career peak Elo rating of 2731 and is currently ranked India #2 & World #20. In the Quarters, Vidit will face the winner of the match between Jan Krzysztof Duda (Poland) and Alexander Igorevich Grischuk (Russia).
