Vidit paired with Rapport, Fedoseev & Shirov in Pool C for FIDE GP – Leg 2

FIDE Grand Prix Leg 2 starts from 28th February and will be hosted in Belgrade by the Serbian Chess Federation. The tournament will witness 16 elite players battling out over the board for a prize fund of €150,000 and the last two spots in the Candidates Tournament scheduled to take place in Madrid this summer.

The drawing ceremony, held over Zoom and chaired by the Chief Arbiter, identified the pools of players for the second leg of the Series. Initially the players were divided into 4 baskets and then the players were allocated by the Chief Arbiter through a randomized selection programme to four different pools. Final pairings will be determined at the opening ceremony on 28th February.

Vidit is in Pool C alongside GM Richard Rapport (2763), GM Vladimir Fedoseev (2704) and GM Alexei Shirov (2704). The games will be broadcast live at worldchess.com from 7:30 pm IST onwards.
